PEACH, the latest album from artist, composer and producer Mary Knoblock, has just been released, and it is a project that adds to a back catalogue of nearly 30 albums. This release sees the Portland-based creative move to a more neo-classical songwriting style combined with very experimental production that gives PEACH a unique sound that is as distinct as it is adventurous.

Mary has previously been known for her work in jazz, electronica and trap EDM, while this new record explores a more stripped-back sound. The vocal performance on the album really stands out, with atmospheric folk and cinematic arrangements making for a very interesting and immersive listening experience. Much of the album was written during late-night sessions that have resulted in some excellent music.

The album looks at nostalgia, healing and self-discovery following loss. “PEACH is what happens when you stop hiding from your own feelings,” says Mary.
“It’s tender. It’s messy. It’s warm. It’s the moment you realise you deserve to be chosen, even after everything.”

To be honest, I couldn't have summed up the album better than that. There is a real honesty that only comes from someone who writes from their life experiences and straight from the heart. Thanks to her background in classical training, Mary has a deep understanding of composition, and that really shows throughout the album, with Mary experimenting with her creative freedom and expression. Great stuff.
