Mercy Kelly
Out in The Night

Picture
Mercy Kelly have dived head first into a new chapter in their career, releasing 'Out in the Night', their first single since reshaping themselves as a four-piece. The change in numbers hasn’t altered the core of what they do. If anything, it has brought them closer to the sound they were building in their early years, the one that first caught attention around Greater Manchester’s small venues. 'Out in the Night' shows just how tight the band are right now , they are focussed on delivering for their fans rather than using fancy studio tricks.

The single takes influence from the type of nights and choices that shape people in their late teens and early twenties. The band aren't interested in dressing it up, they have kept their writing clear and straight to the point which is something they have done well with in past releases. The track would fit easily alongside artists like Sam Fender or The Killers but with their own unique sound that is they have firmly stamped their own identity on which has always been grounded in the northern guitar music scene.

The past year has been busy for Mercy Kelly, with festival appearances at Kendal Calling and Tramlines, plus more than four hundred radio plays across different stations. None of this has come through a label or paid campaigns. Their progress has been built through live shows and word-of-mouth support which is a solid foundation for any band to build on.

Out in the Night works as a re-introduction and as a marker of where they are heading. It shows a band using what they already do well and tightening it rather than trying to reinvent themselves, a clear sign that they are not treating this period as a comeback, but as the start of a more focused run of releases.

'Out in the Night' is available right now wherever you get your music.
