Moon Construction Kit
Chemicals

Picture
Moon Construction Kit has released a new single titled Chemicals, was released on 5th of December 2025. The track continues the project’s ongoing shift into what the artist describes as “power-goth-pop,” a blend of indie rock, darker pop elements, and a controlled, high-energy sound.

The project is the work of Lausanne-based musician and producer Olivier Cornu, who writes, performs, and assembles the tracks himself. His previous releases leaned heavily into layered arrangements, late-60s psychedelic pop, and clean synth textures. The new track is mixed by Guy Britton and follows the 2022 debut EP and the single 'Long John Silver' that was released earlier in 2025, with 'Chemicals' marking an step in the development of the identity of the project.

The track also continues his pattern of drawing from several eras at once. There are elements of late-60s pop arrangements, small details borrowed from synth-driven indie, and a noticeable influence from goth-leaning rock acts. Cornu has described the sound as a meeting point between the intensity of groups like The Cure and the melodic focus heard in power-pop or bands such as Nada Surf.

Moon Construction Kit remains a solo project. Cornu records and produces everything himself, using the process to build dense but controlled layers that give each release a distinct character. Chemicals presents a more forceful direction, but still fits with his preference for careful arrangement and a clear, uncluttered presentation.

The single is available now through the project’s official channels and streaming platforms.
