MUTE TV
Drag Me Down
Hailing from the south-west of England, Bath to be precise, MUTE TV have burst onto the scene with a debut song that feels fresh and exciting. You'd think the band had been around for years, but they formed in 2025. The way that Tim James (lead vocals, bass), Joe Mountain (guitar, vocals) and Ade Poole (drums, vocals) bounce of each other's energy is incredibly infectious.
The guitar-heavy track has a real groove to it, gritty and in your face (in a good way). The band intended the track to capture the energy that comes with a live performance, and they have done a cracking job in my opinion. In fact, here is what the band said about it: “We wanted to capture the song exactly as it feels when we play it live, tense, loud and right on the edge. Recording it that way meant nothing got smoothed out, and that was important to us.”

Drag Me Down was released on the 8th of May via Medical Grade Music, having been recorded at Peter Gabriel's Real World Studios Complex. Pretty impressive stuff, but the guys could have recorded it in one of their garages, and it would have still sounded awesome. There is an edginess to it that gives it an authenticity that is hard to find and even harder to capture on a record, but MUTE TV have managed it with style.
It really is a solid post-punk infused track which will have you clicking play over and over. Drag Me Down is available to stream right now, so be sure to check it out. Don't forget to give the band a follow on their socials to make sure you don't miss out on what they do next.
