Three time Canadian Blues Music Award 2026 nominee Ndidi O has marked a real creative turning point with her latest record, 'It's About Time', an album that is firmly rooted in the Irish landscape and global resistance. Ndidi O is an artist whose own life has seen her spread her wings far and wide. From early roots in British Columbia to the open-mic scenes of New York and the blues hubs of Toronto, Ndidi O's music has so many influences, and that variety makes for a gloriously textured and multi-layered body of work.
Now, settled in the beautiful County Kerry, Ireland, the acclaimed singer-songwriter recorded 'It's About Time' at Monique Studios in Cork, with its bluesy, soul sound mixed with traditional Irish influences. That rich heritage has been helped along by musicians connected to Mick Flannery’s circle, along with long-time collaborator Steve Dawson. Ndidi does shy away from highlighting the current political climate.
“These songs are my reflections on the passing of time,” Ndidi explains. “In my body and in the world. Ageing, immigration, and the global rise of fascism are themes I can’t ignore anymore.”
