NEEB
Take To The Sky
Hartlepool’s NEEB have been around long enough to know what works for them and that really shows in the band's latest release. After years of work and careful refinement the quartet's debut album 'Take To The Sky' has finally landed and it was worth the wait. Its eight tracks pf musical goodness with a unique sound. In the band's own words the album is "eight genre-defying tracks that span soul, jazz and ambient funk."
Recorded at their own Mobeus Studio, the record feels like a group completely at ease in their own space. There is a real warmth to their sound and you can tell they have has been built from the group up. The vocals, provided by Jasmine Weatherill, adds a familiarity while Mark Hand's keyboard work creates stunning audio textures that give the record depth. It is obvious that the band have worked together for years as they match each other's creativity perfectly with Mark Lloyd's drumming keeping the rhythm going and Tony Waite's production techniques bringing the whole thing together, what a team.

The patience that NEEB took to finish the album can be heard in their songs, like 'Visions and Time Is Elastic' feeling like its stretching out and leaving plenty of space for the more subtle moments on the record to breathe.
There is a confidence in 'Take To The Sky' that is, despite this being a debut album, doesn't feel contrived as the band have clearly found their rhythm together. Not just throwing together a collection of songs but really working to get it right has definitely paid off, there are some special moments in this album that you need to hear for yourself. 'Take To The Sky' is available right now via Shy Bairn Records.
