Sam Scherdel: From SXSW Showcases to UK Stages, the South Yorkshire Mainstay Goes Global
Following a whirlwind run at SXSW in Austin, Texas, the "Somewhere in the Middle" singer-songwriter continues his Live Nation-backed UK tour as viral momentum pushes him past 1.2 million streams.
SHEFFIELD, UK — South Yorkshire’s Sam Scherdel is officially operating on a global scale. Fresh from representing the North of England at SXSW in Austin last week (12–18 March), Scherdel has returned to the UK to continue a breakthrough Spring Tour that signals his transition from regional favorite to international "one to watch."
The surge follows the explosive success of his latest single, “Somewhere in the Middle.” After igniting TikTok with a million views in under a week, the track found a mainstream home on ITV’s Love Island and has since eclipsed 1.2 million Spotify streams. With labels on both sides of the Atlantic now circling, Scherdel’s gravel-edged vocals and cinematic songwriting are reaching an all-time fever pitch.
“Things are moving so fast right now—it’s honestly surreal,” Sam says. “Heading to SXSW to represent the North was a dream, but coming straight back into these UK dates feels just as incredible. It feels like this is only the beginning.”
