LEVELLERS 1995 – photo credit Martyn Goodacre
Acclaimed British band the Levellers have released their brand new single ‘Alive’. A dramatic and vibrant track, demonstrating the rockier side of the band full of chiming guitars and eastern-influenced riffs and rhythms, reminiscent of Led Zeppelin’s ‘Kashmir’ in parts, accompanied by an upbeat lyric of positivity, it was first recorded as part of the sessions for their number one album Zeitgeist, 30 years ago, but got replaced at the last minute and has been hidden in the vaults ever since.

PERSONAL COLUMN - Lost & Found 1981-1985

9/27/2025

Picture
In 1984, it felt like Liverpool’s Personal Column were about to crack it. With three Peel sessions under their belt, airplay from Kid Jensen and Janice Long, and the kind of literate indie songs that stood apart from what most of their peers were doing. Despite the fact that on paper, it should have worked, in reality things just didn't work out.

LERA SHEMI - such a gooD boy

9/27/2025

Picture
Every artist has that moment where they throw open the door and let people see exactly what they’ve been working on. For Lera Shemi, that moment comes with such a gooD boy. It isn’t shy about what it wants to be. Heavy drums, jagged bass, vocals that creep in and twist around the edges. It’s confrontational, but also strangely magnetic.

London’s Jayli has taken a bold step with the release of Do You Come With Me?, a reworking of Nora En Pure’s 2013 track Come With Me. GIUSEPPE BONACCORSO  - L'Ombra della Terra

Giuseppe Bonaccorso doesn’t make music to play in background and his latest work, L’Ombra della Terra (The Shadow of the Earth), follows that same path. It is more of a statement than a song. Four minutes long but sprawling in its intent, it moves slowly, almost stubbornly, through shifting layers of sound.

Sleep doesn’t come easy for Katie Belle. It hasn’t for years. Her latest single, Bad Dreams takes that restlessness and turns it into something you can really move to. It might seem strange at first, insomnia dressed up in a beat that keeps pushing forward, but it is makes perfect sense when you hear it.
