Second Chance at Love
Patti Zlaket has released a new single titled 'Second Chance At Love,' continuing a run of activity that began in 2025 with the reissue of her back catalogue and the launch of new material. The track follows her earlier single from the forthcoming album Dance Again and arrives as part of a wider return to recording after a long gap between releases.
The song was produced by Tariqh Akoni and features bass work from Lee Sklar, alongside a group of session musicians drawn from different stages of Patti's career. Patti wrote the song herself, drawing directly from her experiences volunteering with animal shelters. Giving the track and extra dimension that you likely won't find in many other musical endeavours, the lyrics are written from a dog’s perspective and focus on themes of care, recovery and the ability to reconnect after difficult circumstances. This isn't a gimmick by any stretch of the imagination, it was done with the intention of raising awareness around overcrowded shelters and rescue organisations. Patti has done an excellent job of in getting that message across.

Patti's background includes early training as a pianist, formal study in theatre, years spent touring in the US and UK, work as a commercial singer, and later a period away from recording while she pursued a legal career. The decision to make a new record followed renewed contact with Sklar, which led to a longer collaborative recording process.
Thank goodness Patti made the decision to come back to recording as she clearly still has so much to give. Her vocals are strong and clear, and the piano really stands out in the mix which is sounds great. There is a lot going on musically, the energy is up there right from the start, 'Second Chance At Love' is not only a song of hope, it is also a very catchy tune which will have your feet moving and your toes tapping for sure.
