Paris-born singer/ songwriter Aime Simone bursts back into the ether with the release of “Serenity”, alongside modern British icon Peter Doherty (The Libertines, Babyshambles).
Following the track “Werewolf”, performed together at the Olympia in November 2025, Aime Simone and Peter Doherty (The Libertines, Babyshambles) extend their collaborative relationship with the release of “Serenity”, a new single written and composed by Aime Simone.
Carried by delicate instrumentation of piano, acoustic guitar and cello and enhanced by electric guitar licks, the track marks a return to the universe of the Diamond-certified single “Shining Light” that first revealed Aime Simone as one of Europe’s most exciting new talents. Aime Simone describes “Serenity” as “a mysterious song, evoking a long and twisted journey, a life full of misadventures. It is about seeking peace, or an elegy to the singular finality of death. Every instrument is organic: a piano and an acoustic guitar played at Peter’s house the night of recording the vocals, and a cello and electric guitar to give another layer of dimension. It’s haunted, and human; full of natural flaws, soul and depth.”
“Serenity” is an artistic collaboration that takes on its full meaning thirteen years after their first meeting at the Bus Palladium in Paris. In September 2012, Aime is 18 years old. He attends a Peter Doherty concert, deeply struck by his poetry and sense of freedom. That night, a spontaneous gesture seals a decisive relationship: “I threw him a notebook of poems during his concert, then he invited me on stage and
handed me his guitar. I found myself facing him and his audience... I played one of my very first compositions. We became friends that day. He passed a lot on to me, like a big brother, a mentor. He was one of the first people who truly believed in me.”
Since that formative evening, the two artists have remained close, bound by a shared sensitivity and an instinctive approach to creation. Recorded in an intimate setting, “Serenity” is a dark and spellbinding country ballad, whose singularity and beauty are highlighted by Peter Doherty: “We did a couple of other songs as well [during the recording of WEREWOLF]. One particularly beautiful one in fact, is called
“Serenity”, which is gorgeous... a country ballad, a dark gothic country ballad. He’s [Aime’s] got a really curious way with melodies, pronunciation, intonation, lyrics, and it’s a very rare thing.”
Aime Simone emerged with his 2021 breakout hit “Shining Light”, which would go Platinum in Paris, and lead to the release of his debut album “Oh Glory” in 2023. With critical attention swift across both sides of the Atlantic with the likes of OFFICE, WONDERLAND and CLASH all proclaiming a significant new voice. Now with the support from one of music’s most iconic figures amplifying an already significant trajectory, Aime Simone stands as one of Europe’s most unique talents right now.
