PURPLE STONE
Spacetime
Swedish duo Purple Stone are back with a brand new album, 'Spacetime'. It is the pair's second full length album and marks a new chapter in their exciting musical career. It is a project that sees them diving head first in the world of sound, imagination and the unknown. It was released on 10th of October so you can listen to it right now. The record sees Johan Hansson and David Skog expand their blends of guitar work, analogue synths and their steady rhythmic drive creating something that is very cinematic and unpredictable.
Purple Stone are based in northern Sweden and have built a reputation for crafting very atmospheric musical soundscapes. Using washed out reverbs and layered harmonies, they give each track a dreamlike quality. There are flashes of distortion that break it up and keep everything anchored.

There are themes of exploration that run through 'Spacetime', drawing on imagery of space travel, strange machines and even a vivid "space squid" a playful nod to the duo's sense of humour, they create and present a very different world to our present one. Beneath that very vibrant surface there is a real focus on mood and textured sound rather than pure spectacle with each track feeling like it is built to transport you to another universe metaphorically speaking, not to overwhelm the senses.
Purple Stone have described the project as their mission into "space rock with psychedelic elements" and they have certainly achieved what they set out to do. They have a line "Life is dreaming" and it feels very fitting for an album where sound and imagination blur in to one.
