Silver Dawn
Beautifully Awkward
London artist Silver Dawn has kicked off 2026 with the release of her debut EP Beautifully Awkward. The eight-track collection brings together experimental electronic work, synth-based ideas and elements drawn from rock, pop and improvised music.
Recorded at her home, Silver Dawn worked with samplers, synths, guitars and her own vocals, building tracks avoiding conventional song structures instead she took a path of self directed experimentation, making this a very personal project. The title track is a great example of that way of recording, Beautifully Awkward, was created by resampling and processing a vocal recording to produce most of the instrumental parts.

Silver Dawn grew up in West London in a household with a wide range of music, including rock and roll, reggae, world music, folk and classical. She later added prog, techno and free jazz to those interests. She studied jazz and composition at LCM and has taken part in various short-lived post-punk and experimental projects. It is that melting pot of influences that has helped shape the EP and it is great to hear such a wide and varied mix of musical styles coming together in such an interesting way.
Early responses to the EP have come from independent outlets and blogs. Weatnu Records described it as “a strange kaleidoscope of looping”, XO LA Factory called Silver Dawn’s work “imaginative and unconventional”, and Insight Music noted its “unique fusion of textures and genres”. I definitely agree with those descriptions and would recommend you checking it out for yourself. Silver Dawn will take you on a musical journey that you are sure to remember for all the right reasons.
