Social Gravy
Rapture and Rupture

Social Gravy have a new track out called “Rapture and Rupture,” taken from their upcoming EP The Pebble, expected later this year. It’s one of the songs that came from what the band describes as a “troubled heart trying to make good,” which I reckon is pretty much a spot on description.

For anyone unfamiliar, Social Gravy is the Los Angeles project of Brad Kohn and Vee Bordukov. The self labelled “romantic rock’n’rollers,” play music that is guitar-led, melodic, with a sound that is in between indie and modern rock. They have developed their own style which you can hear in their catalogue stretches from Fools (2016) through to These Are The Times (2025), they have covered a lot of ground without losing their core sound.

Recorded live at Stagg Street Studioes, “Rapture and Rupture”, is musically laid bare, with all of the nuances of a live performance captured on this recording that make it feel alive. They keep you guessing about what is next as the track builds up to a gloriously heavy breakdown towards the end of the song, Brad and Vee handle the main guitar work, with Brad also on lead vocals and Hammond. Nick Maybury adds electric guitar, Sharlotte Gibson and Carol McArthur take the backing vocals, and McArthur steps forward for a stunning solo moment as well. The mastering comes from Rodrigo Crespo.

As a preview of The Pebble, it gives a sense of the direction the duo are taking by dealing directly with personal subject matter, played live, without sanding down the edges, raw emotion and creative flow are at the very heart of what makes 'Rapture and Rupture' such an enchanting track. Discover it for yourself and don't forget to follow Social Gravy to keep up to date with their latest releases.
