Spoonfest Charity Music extravaganza raises much-needed funds
for Wooden Spoon Northumberland.
Despite the heavens opening with intermittent rain showers, Wooden Spoon Northumberland held their annual music festival Spoonfest, raising much needed funds for children’s rugby charity Wooden Spoon. Hosted by Alnwick Rugby Club, line-up highlights included tribute bands Planet Abba and Ed Sheeran, Howay the Lads and talented local actor and singer Lewis Denny, who took a break from his showbiz career to support his home town of Alnwick. Lewis Denny is appearing in panto this Christmas at the Tyne Theatre, Newcastle.
Chairman of Wooden Spoon Northumberland, Iain Stewart, said: “We are so grateful for the support this year. Spoonfest drew visitors from across Northumberland, Newcastle, Durham and Darlington with overnight campers from Scotland and around the UK this year. Special thanks go to everyone who helped make it all happen including headline sponsors Alncom, who for the second year running stepped in to support us throughout.”
Actor and singer Lewis Denny said; “No-one parties like they do in the North East! Seeing so many friends, family and people I grew up with is wonderful. Alnwick and the North East will always have a special place in my heart.”
All funds raised from the ticket sales go directly to Wooden Spoon, who dedicate their time to positively transform the lives of children and young people with disabilities or facing disadvantage through the power of rugby. Local initiatives in Alnwick and Northumberland will directly benefit from the annual music festival.
