Sunderland band Swindled are continuing their rapid rise in 2026 following a whirlwind few months and the announcement of a dream appearance at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend.
The band, who have been crowned BBC Introducing’s one’s to watch out for this year are known for their sharp suits, ginger hair, synchronised moves and flashes of chaos, have had a great 2026. Earlier this month, they released their latest track “Loved Up and Worried”.
This release follows the success of their previous single from this year, “Endless Depression and Sexual Fantasies”, which cemented their growing reputation as a phenomenon in the North East indie music scene. Both tracks have had multiple airings on BBC Radio one which has propelled the profile of the rising regional stars.

Last weekend the group played the legendary Brighton Great Escape festival and have also been on the road supporting Britpop legends, Dodgy including a date at one of the best known independent music venues in the UK, King Tut's Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow - known as the venue where Oasis were discovered. Now, the band will be representing their home city at Radio 1’s flagship live event that will take place in Sunderland this Saturday 23rd May.

Swindled will be playing at the BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend on Saturday 23 May in Sunderland.
BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend is a huge annual music festival organised by BBC Radio 1. It takes place in a different UK city each year and features a mix of major chart artists, DJs, and emerging acts across several stages.
The 2026 edition is being held at Herrington Country Park in Sunderland from 22–24 May 2026.
