The Confederation
Hypergravity
The Confederation, a project based in Coventry, have released a new album titled Hypergravity, written by Simon and recorded with a group of remote collaborators. The band cite influences from electronic and trip-hop artists such as Goldfrapp, Massive Attack and Radiohead, and from the structure of classic rock operas. Those reference points appear in the way the album is organised, the songs follow a linear narrative based around two characters, Lena and Norm, whose experiences shape the tracklist.
The record uses a small set of instruments, guitar, bass, piano, keyboards, drums and vocals, with most of the arrangements kept as minimal as possible. The Confederation have implemented the use of AI modelling tools in particular Kits AI to create the character's distinctive voices. Mixing new technology with the more traditional recording methods.

Tracks such as “Who Invented Mondays?” and “Seeds In Winter” each mark different points in the characters’ movements through the story. The themes covered involve identity, perception and life in a digital environment. Hypergravity, was released on 25 December 2025 and is designed to sit alongside a stage production and a planned run of music videos that will mirror the record's structure. The Confederation intend the visual side to reflect the album’s layout and reinforce its focus on character and narrative.
It will be interesting to see where the project goes in the future. You can check out Hypergravity right now.
