THE WILLFUL DEAF
Spirit of Youth

The Willful Deaf return with their stunning new single, Spirit of Youth, a track that leaves you wanting more in the best possible way. It is incredibly moreish.  The project is led by Matthew John Watts, that takes aspects of folk, psychedelic rock, electronica and dub and throws them altogether. Taking the best of those genres and creates an incredibly rousing anthem that certainly got me going back for more. 

There is a lot going on from the instrumental elements, with guest musician Nicolas Sokolic playing a key role here. His banjo and mandolin definitely add some wonderful textures to the track that complement the vocals perfectly. 

​Matthew enlisted the help of a few friends on this one, in fact there is a whole team behind the sound including Nick Holder on drums and percussion, Lucio Cavallari on keys and visuals, and Roberto Lusardi on bass. Each and every one of them adding their own creative edge to the project. 

Spirit of Youth is a track that spanned the globe with the main mix being handled by OFF TRAIL studios in Los Angeles and mastering at Jam Studios in Ireland. The work carried out by both studios has really paid off, with the track sounding full and larger than life.
