After a sold-out run of shows on his first tour of the nationally acclaimed album Super Connected, British singer-songwriter and filmmaker Tim Arnold has announced the release of six live albums.
The Local Live Album Series captures the live performances of Super Connected, recorded at Quay Arts (The Isle of Wight), The Florrie (Liverpool), Ironworks Studios (Brighton), Chapel Arts Centre (Bath), South Street Arts (Reading) and The Cockpit Theatre (London) from the Summer 2024 tour.
The live shows were recorded and mixed by Jim Warren, known for his work as Radiohead's longstanding live sound producer, as well as his work with Arcade Fire, Peter Gabriel and more.

The live shows were recorded and mixed by Jim Warren, known for his work as Radiohead's longstanding live sound producer, as well as his work with Arcade Fire, Peter Gabriel and more.
Each album has 28 tracks, including diegetic sound from the Super Connected film, additional music not on the original Super Connected studio album and spoken passages from actress Kate Alderton and Tim Arnold. Live at Quay Arts includes a live performance from the local Salutaris Choir.
A bonus track ‘Unplug 2 Connect’ by experimental band Screenless Socials features at the end of each album. Built around a sound collage of the recordings of audience members on the tour, the recording is part of an ongoing research study supported by Arts Council England. More than 600 voices feature on the track with some audibly talking about addiction to screens and smartphones.
At each show, audiences participated in the optional "PhoneFreeze" ritual, disconnecting from their smartphones to engage fully with the live event, and the Screenless Social after-shows.
Arnold said: “Thanks to the audience it was a completely phone-free tour. I’m thrilled we managed to record it all. It was important to give something back to everyone who came— for embracing the experience of what it's like to be at a concert with each other, but without phones. Between the songs, you can hear extraordinary people who came and gracefully challenged the digital norms of society. These albums are a beautiful document of that spirit.”
The Local Live Albums are not credited to Arnold but to the Tim Arnold Company, in recognition of the vast cast of musicians, actors, theatre makers and technicians involved in not just the album, but the feature film which has become a centre piece of the live Super Connected theatre show, developed by actress and theatre director Kate Alderton.
This release is part of a broader collaboration with Sandbag UK, the Grammy Award-winning merchandise and e-commerce company, who have designed a new store for all Super Connected merchandise, including the first Super Connected T-shirt designs.
