Token Mouse
L'Appel Du Vide

Picture
Macclesfield electronic artist Token Mouse has started their 2026 with a real cracker of a track. Their second release L'Appel Du Vide has just dropped and it is real gem. Originally starting off on a piano as a simple tune it has developed into something that is celebration of electronica / synth pop. This is a great example of how the meeting of creative minds can bring out the best in a song.

Token Mouse is a collective made up of  Tom Bayley, Matt Wray, and Helen Walford. Each member contributing their own set of skills, with Tom's creativeness, Matt's artistic flair and production skills meeting with the vocal flourishes and in their own words, "captivating electronic melodies" of Helen, it is a match that has proved to be incredibly successful so far and long may that continue.
One of the things I like about L'Appel Du Vide is that it doesn’t feel over produced. It builds up from stripped back keys and vocals, a connection to the origins of piano version of the song, with a beat slowly drawing you deeper in to the music before the synths kick in, there is a lot of skill on show here but more importantly the track sounds great and is something that you wouldn't easily get tired of hearing on repeat.

There’s talk of a stripped back live session that was filmed in Matt’s print studio at some point, which definitely fits their vibe. L'Appel Du Vide is out right now so be sure to check it out.
