WAVES OF THE ECHO
WORDS

Picture
Waves Of The Echo are back with a fresh new single, 'Words'. It has been a while since the Helsinki-based rockers released their debut record, Fading Daylight, Bright Nights, back in 2015, and this release marks a new chapter for the band as they make their long awaited return to the world of music.

'Words' is an instant classic, from the opening synth work, it is clear that this is heavily influenced by the electropop rock sound of the 80s. With that atmospheric, echoey style that shaped that era of music, Waves Of The Echo have managed to capture the essence of the genre but with a modern edge.
Lyrically, the song explores how some words hit harder than others, and in the band's own words, “The lyrics are about the words we accidentally say to one another in the heat of the moment. All the beautiful words stay in our minds until they gradually fade into warm memories. The worst, most hurtful words, however, we remember with vivid detail for the rest of our lives. People age, words don’t.” A sentiment that we can all identify with on some level.

Waves of the Echo enlisted the help of one of the leading names in the Finnish indie music scene, Valtteri Väänänen at Lammaskallion Audio, to record and produce the track, a decision that has really paid off. The end result of all of that time and patience as well as their obvious talent and skilful songwriting is a track that feels timeless and evokes feelings of musical nostalgia.

The release of 'Words' is being supported with a spring tour that will see Waves Of The Echo playing gigs from Riga to Tampere, with the first of those shows kicking off on the 2nd of April. It is proving to be a very exciting time to be a Waves Of The Echo fan, so do yourself a favour and check out the new single for yourself.
