Bath’s alt-americana four-piece Young Martyrs return with the release of their new single ‘Is There Anybody Out There?’, released today, April 3rd 2026, the first single to be taken from their upcoming third studio album ‘Might Just Be Enough’, arriving in the Summer of 2026.

Formed in 2020, Young Martyrs released their debut self-titled album that same year. Their coinciding debut headline tour saw them sell out shows throughout the UK, which led to them sharing the stage with the likes of Badly Drawn Boy, The Hooziers and McFly, as well as playing slots at a variety of festivals including Glastonbury and Rock Oyster. Their second album ‘Time Is Not On Our Side’ was released in 2023, expanding their fanbase beyond the UK and saw them playing shows across New York City.

Their upcoming new single ‘Is There Anybody Out There?’ was recorded and produced as a three-piece with guitarist Rich Beeby also taking on bass duties for the album before the band then finalised their line up with the recent addition of bassist Phil Smith. It was recorded at both Real World Studios in Bath and Indefra Studios in Frome by the band themselves with co-production from Sebastian Brice and engineering from Ben Koch. The track was mastered by Christian Wright (Ed Sheeran, Franz Ferdinand, Blur, Laura Marling) at London’s Abbey Road Studios.
On ‘Is There Anybody Out There?’, the band employs meditative, pulsing delay pedal, melancholy guitar chords and sighing melodies alongside vocalist Tom Corneill’s softly despairing vocals to convey someone who’s tethered to and burdened by the past. The track cements Young Martyrs knack of packing an emotionally powerful, lyrically rich punch within the gentle vessel of a well-worn Americana-tinged ballad.

Discussing the lyrical themes explored throughout the single, vocalist and lyricist Tom Corneill says, “‘Is There Anybody Out There?’ is a song everyone needs right now; a song about desperately seeking connection and answers. It’s about feeling adrift as time slips past you, over you, under you. It’s about loss and missing someone, and missing the good things you once had. It’s about growing up and realising you had no idea that while the best times were happening, maybe you were meant to be holding onto them tighter because one day the moment will have passed.”

Alongside the single, the band have shot their most impressive music video to date. The music video was shot by Quite Brilliant (Coldplay, Biffy Clyro, Glass Animals, FKA Twigs) at Twickenham Film Studios (The Dark Knight, Guardians of the Galaxy, The Northman, The Italian Job, Top Gun: Maverick, A Hard Day’s Night, The Duchess, Monty Python and the Holy Grail), and directed by BAFTA winning film director Tim James Brown under rising movie company Honey Badger Films.

Tying into the concept of feeling ‘adrift’, director Tim James Brown decided to cut them adrift in a literal sense, albeit in space, in this highly ambitious four minute masterpiece.
