New music streaming platform bubl launches Kickstarter campaign
bublmusic.com
London / Brighton - based music discovery / streaming / social platform start-up, Bubl, has
announced it’s Kickstarter campaign launching on the 1st November 2021. The team behind the
campaign hopes to attract the first 100,000 users to the platform and raise in excess of
£420,000 to bring it to market in 2022.
Co-founder, Mark Painting says, “Bubl brings together music discovery, streaming, social media
and artist / fan engagement all in one place. No-one has tackled anything like this before and
we’re super excited to tell everyone about it! We realise that we’re going toe to toe with some of
the biggest names out there, but we really believe that what we’re proposing is going to be of
benefit to artists, rights-holders and music fans the world over.”
Bubl is developed and published by a team with decades of experience in entertainment,
technology, music, app design and perhaps most importantly, playing and going to gigs and
raves. “We’re music lovers first and foremost - this is a product for us as much as the wider
music community,” explains Mark.
“We believe digital music streaming should be adding more value to the music industry rather
than simply benefiting and profiting from it; for us at Bubl that means better discovery
opportunities for smaller, independent artists, that means meaningful opportunities for artist /
fan engagement and that means building a safe, innovative social platform for the music
community to come together over their shared passion - all of this combined presents us with
an opportunity to do something really exciting in this space.”
The creation of such a platform means coming up against the likes of Spotify, Apple Music,
Facebook, Amazon and other established tech giants in those fields, and the Bubl team realised
that they had to do something that was not only different and innovative, but also of absolute
benefits to artists: ‘It’s of paramount importance that we put artists at the front and centre of
what we do - without them, their creativity and their support, Bubl simply can’t exist. None of
the major streaming platforms can… yet other platforms seem hesitant to create innovative
opportunities to the artists they are solely dependent on,’ explains Phil Stigoe, co-founder.
Users will find ‘classic’ streaming and social features such as playlists, creating profiles and
sharing content, but Bubl is bringing new, unique features such as pay-per-play streaming using
credits purchased via the App / Play store, VIP Passes which give artists the opportunity to
monetise their content further and an exposure platform designed to give less-established
artists the chance to be heard by music lovers all over the world.
‘We want to pack Bubl full of useful features that artists will use to attract, grow and nurture
audiences - what’s more, with Jukebox (pay-per-play) mode, we’re able to guarantee 1p / 1.1¢ per
stream to artists whose music is played that way - three or four time that of Spotify, and a
target we set from the off,’ continues Phil.
The Kickstarter Campaign gives artists, labels and music fans the chance to be the first to
experience the app when it goes live next year as well as perks like special profile icons, Bubl
Credits, and even voting rights on the future and trajectory of the app; “We’ve already had loads
of positive feedback from the artists, listeners and labels that have already signed up and
committed to being on the platform from day one, and we want to continue giving the music
community the voice to create something special. We recognise that we don’t not have all the
answers, so by opening up some of our decision making by way of voting, we believe that we will
not only foster stronger community ties, but will build a better product offering at the end of the
day.’
Bubl’s Kickstarter campaign goes live on Monday 1st November and runs for the duration of the
month. ‘Early bird’ packages are available at a discount for the first week.
