DEBUT ALBUM ‘VICTORY’ TO BE RELEASED ON JULY 21ST
Reviewer - David Weddle
Irish singer songwriter and multi instrumentalist Cian Ducrot is an artist who has reached millions of people over the last couple of years with his viral TikTok and YouTube music videos. He has natural musical and songwriting ability in abundance, as well as a keen eye for spotting a video opportunity. Flash mobs in train stations, streets, and shopping malls, singing with a huge choir that seems to appear from nowhere—Cian has given people and the internet many memorable moments.
The success that Cian is experiencing has, however, been hard won. He has gone through many lows in his life, from an absent father to tragic losses and so much more in such a short amount of time. It is a wonder that he has managed to keep his focus, but Cian has taken those aspects of his life and laid them bare for the world to hear in his songwriting.
"Victory", Cian's debut album, is an absolute triumph. If you have followed Cian's career so far, you will have heard many of the tracks on the album already, as he has released several of them on his various social media channels. From the opener and title track, Victory," it is clear that Cian is not holding anything back. This is the story of his childhood and overcoming adversity to achieve success despite the negative experience of his father leaving his life at an early age and the feeling of not fitting in.

The strength of character and resolve that it must have taken to write this, let alone share it with the world, is a testament to Cian's character.
His recent singles from the album "I'll Be Waiting" and "All For You" have both had epic success, seeing over 300 million streams hit the Official Singles Chart top 20 and have been fan favourites at his live shows as well as his videos, garnering Cian a loyal following.
Cian is unafraid of writing about hardship and heartache, particularly with "Part Of Me," which speaks of Cian losing his best friend and music partner to suicide and the aftermath of regrets and things unsaid and coming to terms with the loss. Something that so many people tragically have to deal with, and this track will speak to so many on a level that transcends the music.
As well as acknowledging heartbreak and hard times, Cian also gives praise and thanks to people in his life who have had a positive influence on him. "Step Dad" pays tribute to the man who filled the void left behind by Cian's birth father. Cian praises his Step Dad and how much he helped shape his life and that of his family in a positive way. The line "You love me in a way, that's deeper in these veins than love can ever stain." says it all.
Cian also pays homage to his mother in the track "Moma", which is a heartwarming ode to the person who has always been there for him and seen it all, good and bad, yet gave love unconditionally. His brother also gets a track dedicated to him with the anthemic "Heaven", a solid, heartwarming song that is definitely one of many highlights on the album.
Another highlight, for me at least, is "How Do You Know" which asks the question that has been asked by generation after generation, "How do you know that the good days are now?". One of those tracks that gets you thinking about how much you are missing in the here and now by thinking too much about what is going to happen in the future.
I can honestly say that Cian has written a stunning album that deserves to be in everyone's collection. Open, honest, heartbreaking, and at times inspirational. It is definitely well worth listening to, and if you are lucky enough, you can experience it live on Cian's upcoming "Victory" tour. Info on his website.
