Hög sjö
self titled album
Renowned Swedish producer, musician and songwriter Patrik Berger has been busy creating his brand new, self titled album under the name Hög sjö (Heavy Sea). The 15 track, hour long record is a collection of progressive jazz and groove infused soundscapes. Incorporating all of Patrik’s musical talent, ‘Hög sjö’ is an inspirational album that has real depth.
The album features a plethora of world class musicians, including Jesper Nordenström (piano/keys), Nils Törnqvist (drums), Andreas Hourdakis (guitar), Isak Hedtjärn (clarinet/saxophone/whistle), Evan Smith (saxophone/flute/keys) and Yoann Durant (saxophone). All other instruments you hear on the record are played by Patrik.
There are many notable moments on the album, from ‘Raki’ with its brief moment of carefully composed chaos, to ‘NYC’, which is a Funk filled musical journey. While ‘Youth’ was upbeat and joyful. Ending on a high with ‘Longitude Platitude’ with its eerie whistled tune throughout. A great end to a very interesting, entertaining, and uplifting album.
The album Is made up of Hög sög’s recent trilogy of Eps which have been brought together alongside six unheard tracks to create a stunning, cohesive album.
‘Hög sjö’ is out on Smuggler Music on 27th of January and is available to now
