Sometimes the musical stars align in just the right way, and at just the right time, something great is born. And the brand new, self-titled album from two of Manchester's finest, Liam Gallagher and John Squire, is a prime example of that. The album is a complex mix of musical styles, from nostalgic bluesy riffs to sing-a-long anthems. The collaboration of John and Liam's creative minds has taken a broad spectrum of musical influences and used that influence to create a modern masterpiece.
Opening up with 'Raise Your Hands', a song for the masses for sure. The lyrics will have an instant connection with people as Liam talks directly to the listener and says, 'I'm the same as you'. It is definitely one that will get the crowd involved at live shows. John's guitar work gives a taste of things to come, with the whole track being gloriously guitar-centric.
The album starts off strong with 'Mars To Liverpool', which has one of the most memorable opening lines I think I've ever heard. I'll not spoil it for you in case you haven't heard it yet, although it is one of the tracks that has already been released, so you can check it out for yourself. The vocals are very strong, with a lush melody that sucks you right in. The hook is infectious; it's an earworm, and one that I don't mind having to be fair.

The album is so full of variety that you are unlikely to find yourself getting bored listening to it, which is quite apt considering one of the tracks on the album is actually called 'I'm So Bored'. Incidentally, the song is anything but boring.
The single 'Just Another Rainbow' was always destined to be an instant hit, expert song-writing of John Squire and the vocal mastery of Liam Gallagher come together in a stunning musical masterpiece.
There is a definite bluesy groove throughout a lot of this album, which is also the backbone of 'I'm A Wheel', Liam's vocals sound great against blues infused instrumentals. John's guitar intermitently coming to the forefront with a fantastic solo that shows why John's music has been so influential and so popular for so long.
It isn't just blues that have influenced the sound of this album, there is a definite The Beatles vibe in tracks like 'Mother Nature's Song', which is absolutely glorious. A superb finish to an album that both Liam and John have previously described as "Mega." and they hit the nail on the head with that description. It is truly mega, An album that will sit well in any collection, and one that deserves to be heard.
