MUD AND ASPHALT
'DIRT'
French alt rock quartet Mud and Asphalt have recently released their brand new album, 'Dirt'. The ten-track collection is crammed full of musical gems. With haunting vocals from singer Nathalie, who is a French speaker but sings in English. In a recent conversation with bandmate Nicolas, we discovered that the vocals have been intentionally curated by Nathalie in a way that gives her performance a unique and endearing quality, which keeps the ear focused on the track. It is very difficult to not get immersed in the song.
This is no more prevalent than in 'Tidal Wave', which is a joy to listen to. In the band's own words, the album features 'deconstructed arrangements of some tracks or by the absence of verse/chorus structure, giving the impression of songs under construction.'
The entire album is an enchanting, immersive experience. From the single 'Three Hundred Million' with its stunning bassline to the atmospheric 'Neurasthenia', Mud and Asphalt bring you a unique musical experience that touches on the experimental at times and explores the musical landscape by breaking down the boundaries set by conventional norms that free the mind to enjoy their music on an almost primal level.
The album is out right now wherever you stream your music.
