A band who is totally "self made", and has steadily built up a huge following from scratch with no management or record label may seem like a near-impossible task to many. However, that is exactly what Liverpudlian indie rockers The Cheap Thrills have done.
From 2015 to the present day, The Cheap Thrills have definitely done things on their own terms. A real inspiration for people looking for a way into the music industry, a way that few would have imagined possible. Even today, the band remains fiercely independent, as evidenced by their upcoming EP, 'Mind Metro'.
The EP is a prime example of how creative control in the hands of the creators is definitely the way to go. The EP covers a wide range of topics, from 'Last Orders', which talks of seeking love on a Friday night and failing, to the pain of losing someone close to you in 'Calypso Blue'.
The band has already had huge support for their track 'Escape' from the likes of radio heavyweights 6Music and Radio X. The track is a real toe-tapper, with luscious guitar work and a catchy hook, so it is no surprise that it has been received so well and garnered so much praise.
As a complete piece, the EP has everything you could possibly want from a record. From up-tempo floor fillers to acoustic-led tracks and emotionally charged lyrics, there is something there to suit any mood.
'Mind Metro' is a great EP that I am sure you will enjoy. It is available from the 21st of February.
