The Inidie Musicians Collective are a pop-up collective of DIY musicians who seek not to focus on a distinctive sound, but a melting pot of the different flavours of music you might find in a record store.
The brain child of Mark Gee, manager of indie band Sky Diving Penguins, IMC was formed during lockdown with the aim of helping artists with the distribution of their physical music. Particularly focussing on artists you may not normally see in a record store rather than a particular genre or sound.
On the 16th of July, the collective will have their very first stall at the Independent Label Market in Kings Cross, London. ICM will have lathe-cut limited edition vinyl, specially commissioned artwork, and brand new releases to share with the public, alongside stalls of well-known independent record labels such as 4AD, Bella Union, PIAS, and Rough Trade.
"Themed around the success of pop-up restaurants and bars, we will offer customers the chance to sample our prime cuts from our offline menu, featuring tracks from our first compilation album."
With a strong start Indie Music Collective have given hope to artists who previously struggled to get their name out there and will now be working with renowned independent music retailer, Norman Records, who will be placing their products for sale to the public very soon. Keep your eyes peeled for further announcements
