Having just released their new album, 'Grief Chapters', an album that we recently reviewed, Canadian indie-rock band Mother Mother has brought the album to life with an extensive world tour. They stopped by Newcastle City Hall in the North East of England and we were lucky enough to catch the show, including the opening act Crawlers.
Getting to the venue early was a must on the night to secure a good spot as the queue wrapped around Newcastle City Hall long before the doors were due to open. Excited fans waited eagerly to hear and see Mother Mother with their own eyes and ears. As the auditorium filled with fans, you could feel the electric atmosphere building.
A little later than billed, probably to allow as many people as possible into the venue, Crawlers took to the stage. The alt-rock four-piece from Liverpool have been making waves recently with their brand new album, 'The Mess We Seem to Make' hitting UK charts at number 7 and receiving no end of great reviews. With seemingly boundless energy vocalist Holly Minto's stage presence was all-consuming. With high kicks to kisses, Holly made sure that all of the crowd's pent up energy was put to good use.
Knocking out tracks new and old from 'I Don't Want It' to 'Come Over (Again)', Crawlers put their all in to making sure the Newcastle crowd was well and truly warmed up, and they certainly achieved that. If you ever get the opportunity to see this band, make sure to take it.

After a short musical intro and with the crowd still buzzing after Crawlers set, headliners Mother Mother kicked off their show with 'Nobody Escapes'. The album may be just over a week old but the audience already knew every word.
Lead vocalist Ryan, was quite an imposing figure, dressed in a long trench coat and sporting a rather sharp haircut he looked very much the rock star as he stood in front of the microphone, guitar in hand.
As Molly and Jasmin stood either side of him dressed in black, they put on a stunning performance, during the opening song with a vocal arrangement that made the hairs on the back of the neck stand on end. It really does sound incredible live.
The band gave it their all and the results were incredible, from the start each new song from 'Hayloft II' right the way through to the last song of the night, the album and tour's namesake 'Grief Chapter', Mother Mother's energy was infectious. There were funky dance moves and epic guitar work all set against a backdrop of atmospheric lighting, which played havoc with the camera but looked amazing.
The crowd certainly appeared to have a great time as they sang along with the band. A really special night that will cement this band into the hearts and minds of fans both old and new.
