METALLICA
'If Darkness Had A Son'
What is going on? Metallica have dropped their latest single 'If Darkness Had A Son' and it has totally blown me away.
It has been a while since the masters of Metal have released something that took my breath away. I like most of their back catalogue including Load, Re-Loaded and St.Anger which have all garnered their fair share of criticism from the hard core Metallica fans, but for me nothing really compared to their earlier records.
For a band that has been rocking out for over four decades, it can't be easy to stay fresh and exciting while still giving the fans what they want. Yet here we are, March 2023 and Metallica have just dropped something that has really got me excited and eager to hear more.
The single has elements of the classic Metallica that we all know and love yet still feels like something new and fresh. James' vocals are on point and just as strong and powerful as ever. Lars 2023 on drums still has the energy of Lars 1984, Rob's bass is glorious and Kirk's stunning solo was slightly reminiscent of 'One' for a split second taking me right back in time.
Exciting times are ahead for Metallica and Metallica fans alike. If this is anything to go by, the 2023 era of the band is definitely going to be one to remember.
