THE MARY WALLOPERS
TOUR
Contemporary Irish folk music seven piece, The Mary Wallopers are bringing their own unique brand of music to Newcastle this month. As part of an extensive tour of the UK and Ireland, the band are right in the thick of it having started in Norwich back in October and finishing up in Limerick on 31st December.
The band, originally a three piece formed by brothers Charles and Andrew Hendy along with good friend Sean McKenna, have recently expanded to a seven piece.
The tour comes following the release of their self-titled debut album which is out now digitally and on CD with a vinyl version due to be released mid January 2023. The album features eleven traditional songs that have been skilfully reimagined and arranged by the band and recorded at Ailfionn Studios in Dublin with producer Chris Barry.
Putting their own unique spin on traditional music, The Mary Wallopers have ensured that the songs that have been passed down through the generations can continue on their journey with a new invigorated audience.
