SOUND ON HIGH - 'Be.'
Londonderry group Sound On High have just released their newest single, "Be.". Glorious vocal harmonies, which are as velvety smooth as a very smooth velvety thing, blend seamlessly with stunning acoustic guitar work. Creating great music is something that Sound On High prides themselves on, and they certainly don't disappoint with "Be." This is a little stunner. It's both haunting and atmospheric. SUPERDAMNED- 'Waiting For The Night'
Superdamned, an alt-rock, pop-punk, hard rock three piece from London formed by multi-instrumentalist and singer songwriter Jonathan Wilson. are hitting the airwaves hard with their single 'Waiting For The Night' taken from the forthcoming album 'First Blood'. Melodic and heavy with glorious vocals, Superdamned have a sound that will resonate with most fans of the heavier side of the musical scale. 'Waiting For The Night' is engaging and keeps the old toes tapping from start to finish. Full of energy and clearly talented musically and vocally, Superdamned wouldn't be out of place on anyone's playlist. Shouting At Strangers- 'Clay'
Shouting At Strangers' debut single, "Clay", hits the sweet spot, with heavy drumming from tub thumper Chris Sweeney, complimented perfectly by great bass work from Dean Howarth, giving the track a solid backbone. Ben Gerrard adds to the galloping bass line with stunning guitar riffs and an epic solo. His guitar playing is confident and unapologetically heavy. Shouting At Strangers has, in their own words, been 25 years in the making, and that experience is reflected in the quality of their performance. The best things come to those who wait, and this was definitely worth waiting for. Topped off with stunning vocals from lead singer Dave Tierney, 'Clay' is a solid, heavy as you like, rock track. BRUTE: 'Driving To You'
Electro-pop mixed with an edgy rock sound makes 'Driving To You' by Brute: an absolute gem. Heavily influenced by the likes of Depeche Mode and Erasure, among others, Brute: have taken the 80s style and given it a fresh, modern sound. 'Driving To You' is an accomplished piece and a fantastic stand-alone track. Haunting vocals add a calmness that compliments the progressive electronic beats perfectly. Don't be surprised if you find yourself singing along, it's very catchy. Brute: have also released a video for 'Driving To You'which can be seen on their YouTube channel. Shot in a cinematic style, the video is an epic Bond-esque mini movie. Well worth a look. DEAD IN SHIBUYA- 'Left For Mission And Revenge'
'Left For Mission And Revenge' is the latest offering from London based rockers Dead In Shibuya. Formed in 2019, the group has achieved a lot in a short time. In their own words, 'Dead in Shibuya strikes from the shadows, a twisted mesh of dark pop and hard rock.' Their sound is on par with many of the larger groups on the scene today. The track is a well rounded composition. Gritty riffs and rich vocals are backed up with heavy drum work and solid as a rock bass backbone, all wrapped up with good use of synthesisers. The galloping beat draws the ear in to start before a transition to heavy rock guitar. Entertaining from start to finish, this is a group that knows how to keep their audience engaged. Hard rock meets the 21st century, Dead In Shibuya have carved their own niche and if this is a taste of things to come, then the future is most certainly going to be awesome. TEITR - 'Until The End
Teitr are back and ready to get in to your head with their latest single 'Until The End'. With a very trippy intro leading to a stunning synthesized hook, Teitr have mastered their own unique sound. Ryan's laid back vocals add an extra layer of intrigue that keeps the track flowing. With the addition of the 90s dance anthem style synths, 'Until The End' has everything you could possibly want from Teitr. A solid track that pleases on so many levels. Adding another feather to their cap, the band have already have 2 EPs and an album out despite only forming in early 2021. TOM TOM PARK (feat. Will Burton) -Déjà vu
Déjà vu, the latest single from Dutch writer and producer Tom Tom Park, has recently dropped. Taken from his album 'Somebody Just For Me', is musically upbeat with its groove and bass sound with the synth hiding in the wings to draw it together. Tom Tom Park certainly has rhythm. Lyrically, the song discusses the fragility and frustration of repeated relationships with that special someone who you know is bad for you. With stunning vocals thanks to UK singer Will Burton, 'Déjà vu' has the makings of a club classic. CONTRAST - 'BORN OUT OF LINE'
Contrast are back with an epic single 'Born Out Of Line'. Bringing together their talents from North West England and North Wales to the cultural and musical melting pot that is Liverpool, Contrast are adding to the musical heritage of the city. Following on from their last release, 'Crisis', they have really upped the ante on this one. An outstanding vocal performance and a chorus so catchy you'd make your local fisherman green with envy, it makes 'Crisis' an instant classic. Contrast have obviously worked hard on the composition and production of the track, and that hard work shows. Mastered at the famous Abbey Road studios, Contrast have certainly followed in the footsteps of rock royalty and made their own mark on the music world. There is no doubt that Contrast have what it takes to make great music that will keep you coming back for more. GHOST XI - 'At The Door'
Ghost XI are an indie alt-rock trio from Birmingham UK. They are due to release their new single 'At The Door' on Friday 26th of November. The track is from their forthcoming album 'Trick Of The Light' which is due for release in early 2022. 'At The Door' is a great little number, with stunning harmonies, the track is not as heavy as it's predecessor, 'Find Your Way' but is just as memorable for all the right reason. Ghost XI certainly know how to make their music so catchy that it is impossible to forget. Currently unsigned, the band have written, recorded, mixed and mastered the track themselves with amazing results. TEITR - "/Blue"
'Head down, eyes straight'. Those words are ingrained in my mind as I write this review. Taken from the track 'Social Apathy' which features on the latest EP '/Blue' from Glaswegian Alternative Rock band Teitr (pronounced Tayter). '/Blue' is a follow on from their earlier, self titled album and gives a new twist on tracks from that release. A mix of electronic rock and synth-pop perfectly complimented by the honest vocals from Ryan Tait give Teitr a unique sound, and I mean that in a good way not a 'oh yeah they have a unique sound, wink wink, nudge nudge' kind of way if you know what I mean. JOEL BLACK AND THE HALLELUJAHS- 'THE ELUSIVE MR.RICHARDS'
Indie rockers Joel Black and the Hallelujahs drop their new single 'The Elusive Mr.Richards' on 1st of October. The track is upbeat and fast paced and gets the toes tapping from the get go. Fancy finger work on the keyboard gives the track a rich, full sound backed up with an awesome bass line which gives the track a groove that's impossible to get out of and will have you humming it for hours. Stunning vocals and some pretty nifty guitar top this treat of a single off perfectly. It's my first introduction to this band and I was not disappointed. CHASING AUGUST - 'AFTER DARK'
Alt Rockers Chasing August are back with their latest offering 'After Dark'. There is no doubt that the band have a chemistry which just works. If it's high energy you are looking for then look no more, Chasing August have energy in swathes. This certainly gets the blood pumping. A clear departure from their previous 2018 self titled album which was more melodic rock than the newer, Blink 182-esque sound of 'After Dark'. I can't find a bad word to say about it. GOD IN A BLACK SUIT - 'NAILS'
God In A Black Suit have just released their debut EP 'Nails'. Track one 'Alpha' is more of an atmosphere builder than anything. It certainly draws you in and builds up the anticipation for the rest of the EP. That anticipation is rewarded with the title track 'Nails' which is a great showcase for God In A Black Suit. The EP has dark feel about it lyrically and this is matched perfectly with the skilful instrumentals. Our stand out track has to be 'You Don't Have Time' which ironically is the shortest song on the EP. There is no doubt that God In A Black Suit are carving a their own niche with a great, unique sound. A fantastic debut EP which is available to stream right now. : 'NAILS' |
ZACK FLETCHER - COMPASS ROSE
Just when you think you have heard all that Zack Fletcher has to give, he appears on the radar yet again with another stunning track. 'Compass Rose' deals with feeling overwhelmed by not knowing where life is taking you, a feeling that all of us have experienced at some point. Zack sought inspiration from his wife who reminded him that you don't necessarily need to know the destination or see the path clearly, all you need to have is the direction. The track reflects the mood of the subject well. Overall this is musically uplifting and lyrically inspirational. Another great track from Zack with more planned in the near future. ASGARD RAVEN
'UNTIL ANOTHER DAY' The tragic loss of a close friend in Afghanistan has inspired Asgard Raven to pen a stunning rock track 'Until Another Day'. The song deals with unexpected grief beautifully, capturing the thoughts and emotions experienced during the hardest of moments. Don't be fooled into thinking this is just a sad song all about loss, it is also a tribute to good times remembered which is reflected well in the upbeat tempo of the track. 'Until Another Day' is a stark warning to not take life for granted. Embrace what you have while you have it. CRAIG GOULD -'AIN'T NO PLACE TO HIDE'
Singer songwriter Craig Gould's latest release 'Ain't No Place To Hide' is a musical masterpiece. There is no doubt that Craig is an accomplished artist. The genres of Folk and Americana are combined with a hint of Country to create an real audio delight. Moving away from the music and the obvious vocal talent, the track does have a serious side. Craig is focusing on the lack of social responsibility in the current day and its effects on society. Overall, this is a great piece of work. From the composition right the way through to the production, you can hear just how much effort has been put into making "Ain't No Place To Hide" a great track. Craig is releasing this on the 15th of September. 'Ain't No Place To Hide' is also part of a bigger project helping to raise awareness for UK mental health charity CALM. THE CLOUD SURFERS -'MAGNETS'
Australian rockers The Cloud Surfers have released their latest single 'Magnets'. With its bluesy, rock tones and stunning guitar work, 'Magnets' gives the listener everything they could ever want in a rock song. A song of love, or animal magnetism at the very least. The vocal performance lends itself perfectly to the subject matter and is backed up by skilful drum play and some what sounds like an electronic organ which adds an extra dimension to overall ambience of the track. This track feels like a departure from their previous release 'Tumbling' which had a more upbeat feeling to the track musically if not lyrically. ENGINES MADE FROM SOUP - 'DIG'
The latest single 'Dig' from Meresyside made indie three-piece Engines Made From Soup has hit the streaming world with a bang. A 'Dig' at the media machine, spreading news to sell papers, taking their cash and driving away from their responsibilities when the proverbial hits the fan. A real, honest in depth look into the modern media and the apparent lack of ethics shown by some. The track itself is one of the catchiest I have heard this year. The hook will stay with you for a while and that's a good thing, it's an awesome hook. Overall 'Dig' is a fantastic display of musical skill. Great job guys!
