Bringing us one step closer to her forthcoming debut album Cerebrum, South London’s Absolutely unleashes the enchanting new single and music video “Close to You” - released on Epic Records / Black Butter Records.
Throughout the track, organ sounds accent a head-nodding dreamy beat as Absolutely’s vocals overflow with emotion, detailing a struggle with not being able to shake her feelings for an undeserving ex. Remaining conflicted on the catchy chorus, she finally wonders: “How many times have I caught you in a lie?”

Meanwhile, the wildly cinematic visuals further solidify Absolutely as one of the most strikingly creative new stars to emerge from the UK this year. With a fashion-forward aesthetic and hypnotic pacing, we see various versions of Absolutely as she seeks to elevate and uplift herself.

“Close to You” lands in the wake of Absolutely’s recent ‘Get to Know’ feature for MTV UK, alongside epic new offerings of her brand of ‘alien pop’ like “MIA” (described by NYLON as “a dash of rockish guitar, a bit of woozy soul, and a dose of wobbly discordant synths”) as well as the majorly creative moment “24 Hours” – where the music video directed by Dano Cerny (Halsey, Bebe Rexha) showcases the depth of Absolutely’s world as an immersive trip unfolds on the screen, capturing the wistful essence of her lyrics through striking imagery of Absolutely trapped in a desolate desert, kept company by only the presence of ticking clocks and an ominous hourglass.

Meanwhile, Absolutely’s debut album Cerebrum will be unleashed on November 17th, in a record billed as an unlocking of her universe which will birth her as a future star in the pop landscape. Pre-order/Pre-save HERE.

With tastemaker heat coming from Wonderland, Euphoria, Nylon and Flaunt Magazine, as well as her debut magazine cover by way of Frontline Magazine’s ‘Breakthrough Issue’, “Close to You” is the latest in a string of genre-fluid gems teasing the Cerebrum album drop from the burgeoning South London creative – ranging from “Symphony”’s ethereal soundscape, the acoustic guitar transmissions of “Speak Up”, the enigmatic synth sounds on “Stranger Phase” (which landed on Spotify’s New Pop Picks), as well as the hazy jazz beats of “Fever Dream” and the boundary blurring, cinematic overtones of “Patterns”.

Absolutely’s debut “Higher” marked the emergence of the cutting-edge artist in a stellar music video, which has since racked up 150K+ views and sees Absolutely elevated through breath-taking environments and eventually blasted off into space – pulling us into her world where her creative bounds know no limits. Watch HERE.

Elsewhere, Absolutely is in the midst of joining RAYE for the My 21st Century Blues World Tour, which will see Absolutely connect with audiences in the US, Canada, the UK and wider Europe; the support slot follows on from her raved about set at this year’s Lollapalooza Festival, where she played with Louis The Child and performed their joint track “Stay With Me” (820K+ on Spotify).

Born Abby Keen to a Swiss-Ghanaian mother and British father in South London, she initially dove headfirst into songwriting and made major waves behind the scenes for her pen game, via cuts with the likes of Normani, Anitta, Tinashe, Mahalia, Kiana Ledé and David Guetta – as well as earning studio time with some of the biggest stars in the world in Rihanna, Ariana Grande and Selena Gomez.

Architecting her ‘alien pop’ universe at the nexus of pop, R&B, alternative, soul and electronic sounds, Absolutely continues to assert herself as a sonic outlier on a series of 2023 singles and her debut record Cerebrum – forging her own path as one of the most thrilling new voices coming through from the UK this year.
