Music News MonthlyNews, Reviews and Interviews Brothers Brown Releases "Nowhere Left To Go" ft. Bobby Rush The 13 songs of “Nowhere Left To Go,” written and produced by the bluesy Americana jam band Bothers Brown, is as much a rainbow of musical styles as the album’s retro-psychedelic cover is of colors. This is the second album for this formidable band, founded by Grammy nominee Brother Paul Brown (The Waterboys) and the two-time Grammy-winning guitarist and singer-songwriter Paul Brown, who has produced more than 60 No. 1 singles for a galaxy of contemporary jazz stars including George Benson, Norman Brown, and Al Jarreau. The Nashville-based Brother Paul Brown met the Los Angeles-based Paul Brown at the Grammy Awards in 2014. The four-piece band is completed by a taut rhythm section comprised of bassist David Santos (Billy Joel, John Fogerty, Elton John) and drummer-percussionist Peter Young (Loretta Lynn, The Burrito Brothers).
This is Brothers Brown’s first new album since their 2016 debut “Dusty Road.” The album’s title track features blues legend Bobby Rush, who has been collaborating with Brother Paul Brown for over 20 years. Their fruitful history together spans four albums, three Blues Music Awards, one Grammy nomination for the album “Down in Louisiana,” and many miles traveled during multiple concert tours. The 13 tracks, which include several instrumentals, is at times edgy and dark, at others hopeful and uplifting, and each song is crafted with thoughtful uses of genre and tone that evoke the tremendous musical history of this phenomenal group of seasoned players.
