Second album ‘2’ arriving October 27th via Frictionless Music

Glasgow indie outfit Declan Welsh & The Decadent West release rollicking new effort ‘100 to 1 (Saturday Night)’, marking a further reveal from the group’s forthcoming second LP ‘2’, set for release October 27th via Frictionless Music.

Preceded by lead tracks including ‘I Don’t Know Why’, ‘King Of My Head’, ‘Mercy’ and ‘First To Know’, the explosive four-piece recently ticked off a memorable TRNSMT main stage slot alongside Pulp, adding further credence to their thrilling live capabilities which have already seen them headline Glasgow’s iconic Barrowland Ballroom, as well as a full tour support run for Twin Atlantic.
With October 27th’s album release drawing ever closer, the quartet are well-positioned to capitalise on countless press plaudits (The Independent, The Line Of Best Fit, Dork, Clash, Under The Radar, Gigwise, The Forty-Five) and BBC Radio 1 (Jack Saunders, Clara Amfo, Jordan North) airplay that’ve followed their growth so far; whilst on the live side, the band are set to tour throughout Europe this autumn, as well as supporting The Reytons on their mammoth UK tour.

Discussing his latest track release, Welsh stated: “‘100 to 1 (Saturday Night)’ is a short story really. About a wee guy that’s not based on anyone in particular, but is more representative of this very common mindset - that idea that a weekend is where you try and forget how bad the week is. It’s meant to be funny, and exciting, and messy and under it all quite emotional. Like the experience of getting on it. It speaks quite a lot to the society we’ve created for ourselves that a great deal of the world population, especially in so called developed countries, spend every bit of free time they have numbing themselves to, or escaping from, reality. Hey, alright, it’s time, Saturday night. This huge anthemic moment, the way it feels when it works, when the right tune is on, when you’re on cloud nine and it’s a Saturday. The rest of the context surrounding it makes you understand why you need it. I don’t want to draw too many conclusions or speak for the work though. It’s a story. It’s meant to have multiple interpretations. It’s just about that emotional push and pull. The music throughout reflects that as well. The simplicity of the verses with the mundanity of the week and the grandiosity of the choruses with the excitement of the weekend.

Produced by Grammy nominated, Mercury Award winning producer Gianluca Buccaletti (Arlo Parks, Big Piig, Easy Life) and mastered by Heba Kadry (Beach House, Bjork, Big Thief, Slowdive), Declan Welsh & The Decadent West’s ‘100 to 1 (Saturday Night)’ is out now via Frictionless Music and available on all digital platforms.
The Decadent West are Declan Welsh (lead vocals, guitar), Duncan McBride (guitar), Ben Corlett (bass), Murray Noble (drums)
