Music News MonthlyNews, Reviews and Interviews MATTHEW HALL TEAMS UP WITH BER FOR NEW VERSION OF DEBUT SINGLE 'INCONVENIENT' LISTEN HERE GLASGOW'S HOTTEST NEW MUSICAL PROSPECT RELEASED HIS DEBUT EP EARLIER THIS YEAR. FEATURING THE SINGLES 'OSLO' AND 'ONLY OCTOBER' Glaswegian singer-songwriter Matthew Hall has teamed up with good friend Ber to release a new version of his debut single 'Inconvenient' - listen here. Rising Minnesotan artist Ber originally co-wrote the single with Hall which was initially released at the turn of 2023, alongside producer Jonah Summerfield (Tom Grennan, Matilda Mann), and sparked the beginning of a blossoming friendship between the pair. They both played at King Tut’s summer sessions in Glasgow last summer, where Matthew joined Ber onstage to sing a duet for her viral song ‘Meant to Be’ and he also supported the singer at her London headline show earlier this summer where the duo debuted this version of ‘Inconvenient’ to the sold out crowd. Speaking about the collaboration Matthew says, "How Ber and I met is actually a funny story, someone dropped out from my first ever session in London and Ber was able to step in by chance. That day we ended up writing 'Inconvenient' and from that day I knew it would be my first single. Since then I have been incredibly lucky to share the stage with her and now release a new version of the song that brought us together." Matthew Hall has seen a remarkable ascent since emerging earlier this year, amassing millions of streams, appearances on Spotify's New Music Friday around the world and amassing a barrage of radio and press with his reflective, immersive sound steeped in reality. He recently released his debut EP 'The Inconvenient EP', which is the product of his hard work paying off, is a statement of intent that cements his place as one of Scotland's fastest rising stars. Featuring the stunning singles 'Only October', 'Inconvenient' and 'Oslo', the EP is the perfect introduction into Hall's sound, opening up the path for the future seamlessly. Speaking about The Inconvenient EP, Matthew Hall said: "The Inconvenient EP is an honest piece of work that shows me growing into my own sound. Pretty much all of the five songs were written almost a year ago or longer - I wanted my debut EP to show that process of testing out new sounds and styles. I have loved every minute of creating this and being able to put all my feelings into these songs! I am unbelievably proud of it and I can’t wait to continue to share this journey and more music with everyone. Hailing from Glasgow, the 21 year old singer-songwriter studied music at Edinburgh Napier University. During this time Hall started posting guitar covers on TikTok and quickly started gaining traction for his unique and forward thinking take on popular songs. Solidifying an international fanbase and catapulting his voice to fame was a cover of ‘Home’ by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. Matthew’s version of the track has now had over 40 million streams across Spotify, TikTok and YouTube after going viral. Now with university on hold and a burgeoning career as an artist underway, Matthew has spent the last year since the release of ‘Home’, honing his craft and working with notable producer and writer Jonah Summerfield (Tom Grennan, Matilda Mann), as well as Rich Cooper (Billie Marten, Cloves) and James Earp (Lewis Capaldi, Maisie Peters) to hone his original sound and music.
