In April 1981, Gary Numan completed the last of three extravagant, no-expense-spared retirement shows at Wembley Arena, walked off-stage and immediately realised he had made a massive mistake. Calling it quits at the age of just 23 dented his credibility as it was inevitable he would return to the live stage, as he did just eighteen months later. But it would be another 41 years before he would return to headline the OVO Arena. And as the roar of the crowd greeted him as the opening notes of ‘Intruder’ boomed across the cavernous room, Gary Numan had finally exorcised the demons that had haunted him for half a lifetime.

CONTINUE READING In 1994, having left Iron Maiden for a time (he rejoined in 1999), Bruce Dickinson released his second solo album, entitled Balls To Picasso. Named in honour of the cubist pioneer whose representations of spherical objects were as squares, and reflected on the cover in graffiti style on a tiled bathroom wall, the album belied its irreverent title by solidifying Dickinson’s reputation as a serious solo artist.

Since forming in Illinois in the 1990s, the band has followed a path that’s less about visibility and more about staying true to what moves them. Their music infuses bluesy rock with touches of psychedelia, folk, it has a kind of quiet mysticism that’s hard to pin down. It’s a sound that doesn’t sit neatly in any one category, and that’s part of the appeal.

From the edge of Alicante’s sun-scorched streets comes something a little otherworldly. Monkey The Dog, the experimental duo formed by Francisco Patruyo and Diego Cis in 2021, return with “Polvo de Estrellas” a track that feels less like a song and more like a quiet, flickering thought sent out into the night.
There’s no hurry in this one. Instead of pushing for immediacy, the track leans into atmosphere. You can hear the patience in every element, subtle tones, wide spaces, and a steady rhythm that floats rather than drives. It’s the kind of music that gives you room to breathe and invites you to look inward. Monkey The Dog have always taken an unconventional route, blending styles without feeling the need to label them. “Polvo de Estrellas” continues in that spirit. There’s something dreamlike in the way it unfolds, with emotion sitting just under the surface, never overstated, always felt. This isn't a band chasing a sound. It’s a duo chasing a feeling. And in doing so, they’ve created something that lingers.
There’s something refreshingly unfiltered about Ulrich Jannert’s latest album, not in its production, which is clean and modern, but in its message. This isn’t a record crafted for the charts or shaped by algorithms. It’s the sound of one person tuning into themselves, turning reflection into rhythm, and sharing it not because they need the world to hear, but because they’re simply inviting you in.
CONTINUE READING There’s no easy way to box in Where This Leads Us, the debut album from The SKBs, and that’s entirely the point. From the first track, it’s clear this isn’t a record trying to fit into trends. It’s a journey, plain and simple, across mood, genre, and something deeper you only really catch when you let it all play through.

CONTINUE READING Sunderland's Swindled bring the release cycle for their hotly anticipated third EP What A Nightmare! to a euphoric close with the shimmering, dance-ready single Withdrawal Symptoms, out Friday, June 6th, 2025.
A stylistic departure from the cosmic theatrics of their previous single Cosmic Immigrants, Withdrawal Symptoms throws listeners a bold curveball. Infused with slick 1980s-style synths and an undeniable groove, the track takes Swindled’s indie edge and laces it with dance-pop flair - just in time for the summer. There’s something unforced about What Goes Around Comes Around, the latest album from singer-songwriter Arnab Sengupta. It doesn’t arrive with noise or bright lights, but with the kind of calm that comes from someone who’s taken their time.

Berlin-based band The Sonic Trees return with “The Story Never Grows Old”, a reflective and quietly gripping single that captures the confusion of identity in uncertain times. With icy synth lines and a slow-burning sense of tension, the track explores the weight of emotional chaos beneath a surface of calm.
Brace yourself — Vulgarithm is back with a blistering new track that pulls no punches. “Welcome to the Forgotten Show” is the latest offering from Andy “Dirt” McGurk’s genre-smashing project, and it lands like a sledgehammer swung under strobe lights. Mixing thunderous metal riffs with pulsing dancefloor energy, the track is as chaotic as it is calculated — a perfect introduction to Vulgarithm’s defiant sonic world.
