2024 has been a busy year for alt-rock duo Saint Sappho (multi-instrumentalist Zoe Young and drummer Tammy Dyson), who have built up a solid back catalogue of music this year, including the single 'Too Far Gone' back in May and more recently with 'End of the World', which has been received well by their ever growing fanbase.
And now Glasgow's finest are back with their latest single, 'M.A.D.' Released on the 30th of September, a date that marked the 1st anniversary of the passing of Tammy's Mum, the track is a heartfelt tribute to her.
'M.A.D.' is lyrically powerful; Saint Sappho asks the questions about what happens to us after this life, something we can all identify with as we struggle to understand grief and come to terms with loss. From a musical perspective, the track reflects emotional upheaval with Saint Sappho's unique sound. 'M.A.D.' is infused with melancholy and is reassuringly nostalgic with a very comforting 90's aesthetic.
Saint Sappho has created a song that tugs on the heartstrings at the same time as putting a supportive arm around you. The track is a fitting tribute and an excellent piece of song-writing. This is definitely one to add to your collection. Find out more about Saint Sappho and keep up with their latest releases and live shows at linktr.ee/saintsappho . Craig Gould, one of the UK's finest Americana/Folk artists of the modern era released his debut album last year, 'Songs From The Campfire'. The final single from Craig's ground breaking album, 'Old Brown Boots', is one of the earliest tracks that Craig worked on for the chart topping* album.
When it comes to heavy metal, few people have been more influential right from the early days of the genre. His voice helped launch the iconic band Iron Maiden into the ears of the masses with a growl and a punkish sneer, Paul Di Anno quickly became an iconic figure in the world of heavy metal. Fast forward to 2024, and The Beast is very much back.
Following the release of Yard Act's debut album 'The Overload', life has taken a turn down a different path for frontman James Smith since becoming a father. The new perspective that parenthood gives you is a theme that influenced much of the band's brand new album, 'Where's My Utopia?'.
